You had rués yourselves last
year over the 2000, I advise you to make some in the same way
for the 2001 (exceptional year with Madiran, equivalent of the
2000 in Bordeaux). The vintage prestige "" of Laougué 2001 is
superb, the smoothness moreover. I granted the note of
****(*) to him , and it was preceded in the greatest
international contests:
Gold medal to the International Challenge of the
Wine 2003
Money medal to the World Contest, Brussels 2003
Money medal CNCP, Nuits-Saint-Georges 2003

The musketeer got dressed with lace : Tannat, type of
vine typically Gascon which makes the fame of the wines of
Madiran gives him its impetuous and impetuous character. The
turn of force of Laougué 2001 is to reconcile this character
affirmed with a large smoothness. The wood pigeons and the
boletus have only with good to be held, this Laougué is indeed
the wine of the autumn !
Let us taste it together:
Eye: Wrap ruby of a very major
colour, nuances going from the bluish black to a color crimson
and carmine on the edge of glass. The wine is brilliant and
opaque by its density. It also presents a beautiful
concentration.
Nose: Very very concentrated
ripe black fruit notes, blackcurrant, blackberries, bilberry,
with also of the more subtle notes of liquorice and peony. After
a few minutes arrive of the incense flavours, of prune, pupils
and fresh grape skins. The wine on these varietal flavours, is
marked very little today by the breeding and thus very
accessible.
Stop: A flexible attack and
suave very quickly raised by a refreshing freshness. Then come
the fine and firm tanins which prolong the gustatory feeling
prodigiously. One finds as flaveurs all the black fruit flavours
which we had with the nose. The unit is of a large smoothness
and offers an excellent length.
Met-wines agreement: Salmi of
wood pigeons, ox Coast to marrow sauce with shallots, loin of
lamb sarladaise, stew of young wild boar.
Keep: 2012. Apogee: 2008. To
drink out of carafe (2 hours front) with 17°
From which does it come?
We have followed this field for three years, and yet it does not
cease surprising us, just like it causes the enthusiasm of the
specialized press (in particular of the Guide Hatchet).
Exploited since several generations, the Laougué Field belongs
to Pierre Dabadie, one of the great figures of Madiran name.
Under the crook of Stéphane Castro, the oenologist of the field,
an attentive work is carried out in the vine as with the wine
storehouse. The 45 hectares of the field are gathered the grapes
manually, then the grape is sorted by type of vine and pieces,
the made-to-order of a Great Vintage. The wines are then high to
some extent out of barrels, to some extent out of tanks cement
in order to respect the typicity of the soils and type of
vine . Stéphane Castro works out filling with enthusiasm
wines thus, and always surprising.
