An old
tradition consisted in very tardily gathering the grapes the vines of Pacherenc.
It was given to the style of the day since 1991. Indeed, It had cold in November
and a vine grower had not been able to collect his grapes. Friends then said to
him that one could gather the grapes until December. It is with which would
gather the grapes latest! And why not make some speak? It is like that that for
only 7600 F, the producers of Viella offered themselves 16 minutes of reports on
all the chains TV by gathering the grapes to midnight the 31/12!
The following
year, of the spontaneous requests, until Foreigner wish to take part in the "midnight
supper" which however does not exist yet. The idea is launched, concretized
since 1993.
It is the occasion to mobilize the village (everyone
decorates its frontage for example), to organize multiple animations, excellent
meals, of
a procession in costume recalling the history of Viella and of a superb mass
with pastorale dressed up
as introduction since 2001... and which replaced the mass since 2002. And
finally to go to gather the grapes...
